Astoria Software Opens Enterprise XML Content Management To Mac OS X

Astoria Software, a division of TransPerfect,  announced that  its Astoria Content Management solution will embrace the Apple platform, Mac OS X version 10.6 (also called “Mac OS X Snow Leopard”).  The Astoria 6.0 Workbench and oXygen Editor Bridge, are in preview release and under active testing by select customers, and allow technical communications teams to work in either Windows or Mac OS X environments.

The Astoria Workbench, an Eclipse application, is an all-in-one console for authoring, managing and publishing content that utilizes the Eclipse open source  extensibility and portability.  Astoria’s Editor Bridge, is built entirely in portable Java and allows users to run an integrated XML editor, such as oXygen, to perform numerous file and element operations. All Astoria Editor Bridges run on any platform supported by the editor’s vendor.

The communication architecture supporting both the Astoria Workbench and Editor Bridge  uses SSL-encrypted HTTP (i.e., “HTTPS”) to exchange messages and data between Astoria’s server-side modules and either the Workbench or Editor Bridge.

Astoria Software’s support for Apple’s Mac OS X,  can be delivered via either its Enterprise-wide On-Demand and an On-Premises solution. “You might say that ‘SaaS’ just got sassy,” said Michael Rosinski, President and CEO of Astoria Software. “Astoria is the preeminent SaaS/On-Demand platform for XML content management, and Mac OS X is arguably the most productive platform for users. Linking the two delivers the top-line and bottom-line revenue benefits of structured content development that make business leaders happy while giving users the flexibility to choose where and on what platforms they build that content.”

Astoria Software provides enterprise solutions for XML Component Content Management and implements both an Enterprise-wide SaaS/On-Demand and an On-Premises approach to structured content management. Both are enterprise-wide solutions for Translation-Enabled Content Management. Astoria Software, a division of TransPerfect, Inc., is based in San Francisco, California.
