About a week before the launch of the latest Martian Rover, Curiosity on November 26, the blog Gizmodo reported that the Lunar Rover Operations Manual is available for download from NASA. Originally published in April 1971 by Boeing for NASA, the 221 page manual provides historical context for best practices in technical document management, including signed approvals, formal change management, numbered illustrations and more, long before digital photography style sheets or DITA. The manual can be downloaded in eight parts or as a single PDF. The Apollo Lunar Surface Journal project also houses a huge array of communications and documentation from the Apollo missions to the Moon.
