SDL announced a new release of its award-winning structured content suite that is compliant S1000D, the XML standard for technical documentation in the aerospace and defense industries. The new release features SDL LiveContent™ S1000D, SDL’s application for managing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM); SDL Contenta S1000D 5.0, SDL’s common source database (CSDB); and SDL’s BREX Checker, which validates multi-layer business rules from within the SDL Contenta S1000D 5.0 editor. SDL conducted focus groups with writers, project managers and publication managers who work on projects using the S1000D standard. Enhancements to the suite include iPad support, and the ability to stop and resume IETM sessions in context. The standard is maintained by the S1000D Steering Committee, comprising board members from ASD, the United States’ Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), and the Air Transport Association (ATA).
