STC Issues Call for Proposals for 2013 Summit

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) has issued a Call for Proposals (CfP) in preparation for Technical Communication Summit ’13 in Atlanta, GA.  Those interested in presenting at the 60th annual conference, scheduled for May 5-8, 2013, may submit proposals for sessions in any one of ten different formats for any of the nine tracks being offered.

Proposal formats are limited to:

  • Case Study
  • Research Report
  • Demonstration
  • Mini-Workshop
  • Panel Discussion
  • Presentation
  • Lightning Talk
  • Project Showcase
  • Progression Topic
  • Pre-conference Workshop or Certificate Session

According to the website “The Society advances the theory and practice of technical communication across all user abilities and all media. Consequently, the core content of the Summit’s education program will be based on tracks that span the profession.”  However, proposals may be submitted outside of the identified list, “and the Program Advisory Committee will identify how it fits within the overall Summit program.”  The tracks include:

STC provides comprehensive information on preparing and submitting proposals at http://www.softconference.com/subs/stc/2013/, where prospective speakers may create an account for use in the online submission process. Each track has a track manager, to whom questions can be directed. Proposals must be submitted to the STC Program Advisory Committee no later than 5:00 pm (ET), September 10, 2012. All proposals will be reviewed by members of the Committee in conjunction with the track managers. The committee plans to notify candidates of its decisions in early November.
