Technical Communications Poll: Factors in User Assistance Development

TechWhirl at WritersUA ConferenceThere’s nothing like a great technical communications conference to get us thinking about all the moving parts that have to work together in order for us to be able to do what we do.  WritersUA is chock full of so knowledge about tools, strategy and trends, it can be hard to focus on the overall goal of designing user assistance that actually assists the users, or potential users of our products.

When you are responsible for technical communications content, for software or other products, you have to balance quite a number of factors to do what’s optimal for the users and for your organization.  This week’s poll looks at what kind of factors you are  juggling to plan and produce user assistance.  We recognize that there are probably plenty of other factors that impact how you do your work, and even what work you get to do.  Please take a couple of moments and let us know your thoughts on user assistance, and feel free to post a comment, or start a thread on the email discussion list.  If you’re here in Memphis with WritersUA, we hope you’re enjoying the conference, and if you couldn’t make it, we hope you’ll be part of the discussion.
